Ron Davis with David dyslexic boy with method creator Ron Davis

"Going to Evelyn has really helped me improve my reading and writing. I enjoyed going to Evelyn, because it is fun to learn with her. Also I very much liked the opportunity to go and meet Ron Davis, because his method has really helped me get through my years at school."

Feedback and Testimonials

I am writing to thank you for all you have done for Josh.

When I first approached you I was at desperation point. My son had just completed his first year at Secondary School and was on the verge of expulsion. His behaviour at school had become so extreme that we spent over £2k on a private psychological assessment and follow up treatment. He was diagnosed as having ADHD. His IQ was in the top 2% of the population but he had a particular learning difficulty involving speed and accuracy of writing combined with problems with organisation skills that left him floundering at school. His behaviour at school deteriorated as a result of his frustration at being completely misunderstood and constantly punished for something that he could not help, and teachers could not recognise or understand. He was kept in the bottom sets throughout the whole year simply because he could not prove his ability on paper.

Although we never believed that Josh had ADHD as we never any problems with his behaviour at home, we succumbed to the pressure from school to put him on Ritalin, essentially to keep his place at school. The school considered him to be a danger to himself and to others, something that dumbfounded me! The psychiatrist said that Ritalin was the only solution that he could offer. Over the next three months we saw our son suffer on the medication as the dosage went up to the maximum and he could not eat or sleep. The Ritalin was not working, even at the maximum dosage and the Psychiatrist then offered an additional drug. When my GP rang to me to question such a large dosage of Ritalin being used on a child of twelve and asked me why it was being increased to such a level when there had been no improvement, I decided enough was enough. I made a decision there and then that no matter what I would never give my son medication again, even if I had to take him out of school, he had suffered enough. I felt that there had to be another solution and that is when I found you from searching around on the internet. We were two months on from that point when we finally met you and he had hardly been at school at all because he was serving suspension after suspension.

At that point we really did not know which way to turn. I decided to give the Davis Course a try because you were so certain that you could help that you offered to return our money if we did not see any results.

Now we are three months on from the initial course. After your initial assessment of Josh you confirmed my thoughts that he did not have ADHD and felt that although the problems at school seemed so severe, they could be resolved quite simply. Josh has since started at a new school in September and we have had no problems whatsoever. He settled well and is extremely confident. We had got to a point where I would never have dreamed that such a dramatic change was possible. In his first two weeks at his new school he received three separate commendations, something that he had never received once in a whole year at his previous school.

Josh has always been an extremely confident boy with a very big personality and a very strong and quirky sense of humour. What I like best about the course is that it has not changed that in anyway but has improved on what he already had. He is much more measured and thoughtful now. It has given him the tools to control his impulses and correct the dyslexia that was such a source of frustration to him. I can really see how proud he is of what he has achieved and how he has been able to turn himself around, especially after the follow up appointment.

I am noticing changes in him which I marvel at. Last night he said he was trying to decide what he wants to do when he goes to college because he realises he needs a goal to aim for and wants to know where he is heading. That would never have occurred to him before and I just cannot believe it!

We owe you more thanks than we can put into words for the difference you have made and we are grateful for all the interest you have shown and your continued support, it means a lot to us.

I apologise for the length of this letter but it is written with the intention of helping others who might be wavering about the course and might be as sceptical, as I was, about whether it really can make a difference. Josh is living proof that it does work dramatically when you have reached rock bottom and cannot see a way out.

Still can't quite believe it, but have to trust now that it is true!
